Check my Medical Records was started because we had a family member with a complicated medical condition and we couldn’t get straight answers. Finding out what was exactly going on was difficult and we didn’t have confidence in what we were being told. We felt like we were hearing different answers from every practitioner involved with our family member’s case.

We felt helpless!

Luckily, I’m a former Apple software engineer with extensive experience in machine learning and AI, so I used those skills to create a system to help our family make sense of the more than 1000 pages of medical records.

This system became Check my Medical Records. Our goal is to bring to your family the sense of clarity, calm, and answers that we were able to achieve for ourselves.

About Check my Medical Records

Check my Medical Records founder Brian Dear

Why us?

Check my Medical Records founder Brian Dear has extensive experience in health technology. He and his wife Jessica Dear were the founders of the pioneering mental health technology company iCouch. They created that company in 2010 to expand access to mental health treatment. They invented the world’s first browser-based mental health tele-health platform that enabled people to get private, secure mental health therapy on any device.

They were doing online mental health long before it was “cool.” It turned out that their innovation paved the way for what became the future of mental health therapy. After iCouch was acquired, Brian moved on to work as a software engineer at Apple. At Apple, he was a part of some of the most amazing technology ever created, helping drive Apple’s innovation in AI and Machine Learning. After Apple, he continued in consulting, working with some of the biggest health care companies in the world, leading technological innovation and improving outdated, inefficient processes.

While AI shows great promise for the betterment of humanity, one of Brian’s frustrations is that this power has been largely in the hands of the biggest companies. He jumped at the opportunity to create a system that puts the power of advanced technology into the hands of the people that could benefit from it the most.
